An MCJD Interview with a Farmer
Event: Willamette Valley AgricultureInterviewer: Antonio
Whom did you interview?
Another classmate and I spoke to a farmer who requested to be named John, he farms primarily grass seeds, but grows hazelnuts as well.
How did your EcoTypes and SDG priorities compare?I am a Earth Action Ecotype with the SDG’s of: Good Health and Well Being, Clean Water and Sanitation, Reduced Inequalities, and Life Below Water. And he was a Land Stewardship Ecotype with the SDG’s of Zero Hunger, Good Health and Well Being, Quality Education, and Clean Water and Sanitation.
What larger MCJD lessons did you learn? We had a lot of surprising similarities when it comes to place however our differences. However, when it comes to action we differ as I prefer bigger action with government oversight, but John preferred small scale changes with no oversight as one he doesn’t like it and two that he believes the government acts too slowly to make enough changes quickly especially on a small regional level, whereas I believe that government oversight and enforcement are necessary to make the sweeping changes that are required for environmental restoration.
