Rainy Discoveries
Event: Tillamook ForestInterviewer: Isabel
Whom did you interview?
A woman from Sacramento who was here in town for a concert and stopped by after hearing about the rain festival. She said that nature is a big part of her identity and tries to promote traditional practices of conservation, for example, simple things like picking up trash and litter when hiking. She also wants engagement on all levels like, federal, state, and smaller communities. She also acknowledged that she has not seen many environmental justice movements but sees their importance and would like to see them more often.
How did your EcoTypes and SDG priorities compare?Since the woman I talked to expressed that she wants engagement on all levels and wants to see more environmental justice movements I feel that she would lean towards big action even though she mostly partakes in small action I feel that she wants to do more for the environment. I also feel like she leans towards nonhuman place because of how she was expressing her love for nature, and I feel that most of the people I talked to would lean towards nonhuman place because of how passionate they were towards nature. It is kind of hard for me to draw a conclusion about the knowledge axis because I feel like I didn’t get much of a chance to hear about people opinions about old versus new knowledge.
What larger MCJD lessons did you learn?I feel that this trip is very beneficial for MCJD because I got to spend the whole day learning about other people experiences and where they come from and what is important to them. I also feel like I agreed with her a lot about trying to get engagement from all parts. I agreed with most people that I talked to about their view on the environment.
